Aaron Taylor Wins Mountain Dew Modified’s Season OpenerSpringport
This weekends event was headlined by the Mountain Dew Modified Division with the Auto Lab A.B.C Stock Division and Front Wheel Drive Barn Stocks also on hand for the 2017 Season Opener at Springport Mid-Michigan Speedway. This marked a milestone for the 28 year old short track in Springport, MI as new owner’s John and Curt Ainsworth along with track manager Donnie Ritter kicked off a new era with a great group of race teams and passionate fans showing up to cheer on their favorite drivers, sport and the resurrection of a speedway many call home that was closed for most of the 2016 season.
The owners and management want to send a huge thank you to all the people who braved the cold temperatures and cheered on their favorite drivers and sport. To the staff, who worked tirelessly to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone, putting the focus on visitors first while learning new jobs or a new facility. Saturday marked the first week of our plan for the track and we could not be anymore happy with how well it went. We will focus on things we know we can improve on while maintaining the family friendly atmosphere as we work to become a premier location for motorsports in not only Michigan but the entire country.
Please join us next week as the NAPA Outlaw Super Late Models make their season debut at the 3/8 mile high banked oval. We are expecting a great field of cars in all classes and look forward to seeing you all as you come out to help in resurrecting this great facility.
NOTE REGARDING POINT STANDINGS: Due to the nature of our point system where we crown a champion for all 3 parts of the A.B.C. Division we are currently having custom computer code written to display those automatically on our website. These will be available next week on our website along with the results section. We will have a print out at the track Saturday with the current standings, thank you all for your understanding while we develop more great features for the track.
